Hello fam!

A quick note on February … our best month ever! Abbondanza did not disappoint. We delivered 406 Italian meals and 100 bag lunches for grand total of 506 meals! Well done everyone! Honestly we are so blessed to have friends and family like you. And now, without further ado, let’s move on to March.

CHILDHOOD FAVORITES

This is our second year making childhood favorites and I am excited to see what you all come up with. But first, let’s talk about why childhood favs are so important.

Today kids are picky eaters. They get to choose their meals. They have “food allergies”. When our girls were growing up, I often made two meals to appease them: mac and cheese AND fishsticks, tuna noodles AND pb&j.

I don’t want to sound like an old guy but things were different back in my day. We were given no choices. None. Mom made dinner and you ate it or you ate nothing. In fact, when my mom made salad, she put in the bowl and mixed the oil and vinegar in! As a result, when the Gods smiled in your direction and you actually got a meal you liked, it was a big deal. Same with the lunch lime. School lunches didn’t have much variety back then so when pizza or Salsbury steak day rolled around, you felt like the chosen one! As a result, we created an incredible nostalgia around our favorite childhood meals.

Even now I remember sloppy joes and chili mac at school. And tater tots! I love tater tots. They are literally potatoes in tot form. (that was for you Chloe and Eden) And I also remember how I felt when I scored one of my favorites. I had a huge smile plastered on my face from ear to ear. Pure joy! That’s what I want to give to our friends and neighbors in Atlanta this month. That moment of joy at getting the perfect childhood meal.53

With that in mind, this month’s menu at Chez Rotonda will be:

  • Sloppy Joes
  • Hamburger Helper casserole
  • Pigs in a blanket
  • Mac and cheese
  • Tater tots
  • PB&J bag lunches
