Hi Friends!

Before we talk about November, let’s give a shout out to October:

– 445 meat and potatoes meals

– 40 pumpkin muffins (thanks Gojuicyatl)

– 5 boxes of greens (thanks Straightfromthebackyardfarm)

– 2 boxes of fruit (thanks Sawyer Elementary)

– 9 people came to the house to volunteer

– 5 others made food and dropped it off

– 2 new sponsors joined us

– 2 people donated through Venmo

What an incredible month! How do we top that? I don’t know, we just do! And with that, on to November…

NOVEMBER 10TH-12TH: THANKSGIVING EVENT

This is my favorite time of the year for many reasons- cold weather, family, holidays and, of course, food. There’s something so familiar about Thanksgiving. The meal, the table, the football. It’s comfortable. We are thankful and content. And that’s what we want to give to Atlanta’s food insecure this month. One day to be thankful and content.

So let’s break out all of the classics. Turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes… the works. What was your go-to dish as a kid? Make that for someone else this year!

For me it was that green bean casserole. One year it just popped up on everyone’s radar and then BAM it was an every year must-have. As our kids grew up it became their favorite as well. They love it! In fact, it may have been the first dish they learned to cook. It became a year-round treat which begs the question … why do we only eat certain foods on certain holidays? Pumpkin pie is delicious 24/7/365. So is stuffing. So why do we feel weird about eating them in June?

Ok I digress and I know you’re used to that. My point is that we want to give our friends and neighbors a truly memorable Thanksgiving meal.

Here’s the schedule:

Friday 11/10 – I will be shopping and doing pickups

If you have food already made this is the best day to connect.

WE NEED A VOLUNTEER FOR A FEW HOURS TO HELP WITH PICKUPS AND MEAL PREP

Saturday 11/11- Volunteers are welcome at our house in Marietta from 12-4pm. I’m still working on the exact menu but I’m open to suggestions! YOU’RE ALL WELCOME!!

Sunday 11/12- We will be dropping the food off at Feeding GA Families at 1pm.

WE NEED A VOLUNTEER FOR A FEW HOURS TO HELP PACKAGE, LOAD UP AND DELIVER MEALS

Obviously we’d love to see you here at the house. It’s a great chance to catch up, meet some great people, have some food, maybe a drink, and do something good. If not, please consider cooking and dropping off. It really does lighten the load! And of course we always welcome donations: Venmo @ManyHandsProject.

You know what Thanksgiving meant to you as a kid and how those warm memories make each new Thanksgiving a pleasure. Let’s do that for our friends and neighbors who are struggling.

Finally, Amy and I can’t thank you enough for your generosity, support and friendship. We literally could not do this without you! At a time when the world seems like a scary place, it makes me smile when I realize I know so many incredible people.
